Clouds darkened the skies at
HCA Arena as 14000 spectators turned up for the match.
Michele Anzalone was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Joel Magalhães and
Marco Thurnhofer.
HCA had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation.
The following players took the field: Skov Knudsen - Flindt, Frydkjær, Aagesen, Timm, Skydsgaard - Engholm, Adamsen, Winter - Winther, Krogsdal.
Malingo decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
The following players had been chosen: Kimose - Jepsen, Bryde, Fransen, Kristiansen - Hemmingsen, Clemmensen, Haugaard, Terkelsen - Fricke, Borg.
After 17 minutes, HCA sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
F. Krogsdal, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 1 - 0.
HCA's
A. Winther saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 23 minutes.
A cross coming in on the right hand side left
K. Terkelsen alone in front of the goal after 28 minutes but his shot was woeful.
G. Adamsen could have put HCA up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 29 minutes.
M. Jepsen levelled the score for Malingo, making it 1 - 1 on a free kick that went in by way of the right post.
With 35 minutes played, Malingo's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to
R. Borg he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 1 - 2.
HCA's
M. Frydkjær put his head to a well placed ball, lifted in from the left, and scored to make the score 2 - 2 with 42 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock.
The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 2.
HCA claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 61 percent.
HCA created a good opportunity to score 53 minutes into the match when
A. Winther's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball.
At 63 minutes played,
B. Engholm came in from the right with the intention of giving HCA the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar.
77 minutes into the match and the home team took a 3 - 2 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for HCA was
H. Timm.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by HCA, with 64 percent of the ball.
Most important HCA player was
H. Timm.
F. Krogsdal turned in a dismal performance, however.
The most dominating Malingo player was without a doubt
F. Fricke.
H. Bryde was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 3 - 2.
