Clouds darkened the skies at
FC Mads Arena as 12000 spectators turned up for the match.
Jerzy Kołton was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Mzuzi Akii-Bua and
Ulf Jensen.
Mads decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
Starters: Schmeichel - Loebbeke, Smidt, Appel, Doneus - Pejtersen, Slotø, Eg, Riber - Halskov, Kirkeby.
Farre started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Frydenlund - Svare, Sahin, Gudmundsen, Meier - Vadstrøm, Meyer, Suji, Juhl - Al Shazly, Yding.
9 minutes into the game, Mads's
B. Appel surprised the visitors with a raking cross-field pass to
D. Halskov who easily found the back of the net, making the score 1 - 0.
A. Loebbeke almost put Mads ahead another goal when he curled a free kick over the defensive wall and almost into the net, but the visitors' keeper got there just in time to knock it wide.
A. Loebbeke could have put Mads up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 24 minutes.
25 minutes into the game Farre managed a counterattack, but
R. Juhl took a soft shot from the left flank that was easy prey for the alert keeper.
36 minutes into the match the visitors levelled the score at 1 - 1 as
T. Meyer struck home from a rebound off the crossbar, following a shot from the right.
Farre's
M. Vadstrøm got himself booked for a foul.
Due to a severely mistimed tackle,
J. Pejtersen of Mads spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game.
The referee showed Farre's
M. Gudmundsen the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
43 minutes into the game,
A. Al Shazly had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
B. Caspersen.
1 - 1 was the halftime score.
Possession in this half belonged to Farre, who controlled the ball 56 percent of the time.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
B. Caspersen from Farre a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 50 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
R. Eg, but the Mads player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 2 - 1!
60 minutes in, Farre's
T. Meyer received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
After 62 minutes Farre's
S. Meier limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue.
With 64 minutes played,
S. Meier of Farre fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
The visitors almost came back with an equaliser 66 minutes into the match after a good combination down the middle, but when
D. Svare tried to finish the attack, he couldn't deliver the shot hard enough to seriously challenge the keeper.
After 67 minutes,
N. Kirkeby put Mads ahead 3 - 1 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
Farre claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.
H. Doneus performed admirably for Mads.
On the other hand,
B. Appel's play was disheartening.
Farre's best player was
R. Juhl.
N. Frydenlund on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 3 - 1.
