26-08-2012 17.15
Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and
Kravlegården saw a crowd turnout of 35400.
Fabio Spadaro was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Rodrigo Barreda and
Herben Wouters.
BOYS started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
Starters: Henckel - Frøkjær, Gudmundsen, Jensen, Lauring - Villadsen, Brokholm, Therkelsen, Stein - Ekstrøm, Larsen Nielsen.
Ribe decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
The following players took the field: Søgaard - Ulbæk, Riis, Broendsted, Vedby - Aaen, Bakkeskov, Tygesen, Keiser - Vendelø, Eskerod.
A mistake by the home side's central defence after 2 minutes allowed
K. Riis to score for Ribe. The scoreboard now read 0 - 1.
With 13 minutes having been played, BOYS scored to make it 1 - 1. A dribble down the left wing, followed by a shot which took a wicked bounce off a defender resulted in the keeper having no chance. Everyone thought it'd been an own goal, but
T. Gudmundsen was marked down as the scorer.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
K. Riis got himself booked. The manager of Ribe was not happy.
BOYS's
U. Villadsen tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders.
BOYS broke through on the left 32 minutes into the game, with
M. Stein firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 2 - 1 lead.
The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 1.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by BOYS, with 58 percent of the ball.
Ribe's
E. Broendsted was shown a yellow card after 52 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
BOYS were forced into a substitution as
K. Larsen Nielsen couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing
L. Grøn Nielsen to come in off the bench.
56 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
S. Ekstrøm broke through, making the score 3 - 1 for BOYS.
BOYS solidified their lead at the 65 minute mark, as
L. Grøn Nielsen dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 4 - 1.
With 69 minutes played, BOYS put themselves up 5 - 1 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
U. Villadsen, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
Confident in their lead, BOYS's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
BOYS managed to extend their lead to 6 - 1 when
M. Stein cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
80 minutes into the game, BOYS's
U. Villadsen surprised the visitors with a raking cross-field pass to
M. Stein who easily found the back of the net, making the score 7 - 1.
That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for
M. Stein.
T. Gudmundsen could have increased the lead after 82 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park.
BOYS enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.
Most important BOYS player was
K. Therkelsen.
On the other hand,
F. Henckel's play was disheartening.
The most dominating Ribe player was without a doubt
K. Vedby.
K. Riis turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 7 - 1.
