Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Århus Sportanlage saw a crowd turnout of 7000. Thommas Bonnesen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Kent Ahlblad and Fabrizio Zebedeo. Århus started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. Århus's T. Rasmussen got himself booked for a foul. A loud groan was heard from the fans of Aalborg, as J. Bech Jensen left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match. K. Panduro took his place on the field. The referee showed Aalborg's E. Agger Pedersen the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Down the middle came A. Ørskov, making a fantastic play that nearly had Aalborg take the lead after 26 minutes, but T. Nissen preserved the tie. 38 minutes into the match, Århus's B. Andreasen popped up from nowhere, cheekily stole the ball off an opposition player and scored. 1 - 0. 1 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Århus, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.

T. Rasmussen could have increased the lead after 48 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. Perseverence paid off for Aalborg, as their F. Willatzen equalised making it 1 - 1 with a fabulous free kick. Århus broke through on the left 61 minutes into the game, with T. Rasmussen firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 2 - 1 lead. After 74 minutes, Århus raised their score by one when T. Olesen's dangerous low cross was cleverly tucked in at the near post by B. Glargaard. 3 - 1. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Århus lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. Århus's T. Rasmussen had an excellent opportunity after 75 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles! Århus had most of the ball, with 54 percent of possession.

The most dominating Århus player was without a doubt B. Andreasen. T. Nissen turned in a dismal performance, however. K. Panduro performed admirably for Aalborg. However, R. Garde made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 3 - 1.
