Clear skies welcomed the 12000 spectators who had made their way to challenger Arena. Anders Hellius was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Paolo Liardo and Tobias Scheck. Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this Ar Riyad derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents. alkaser decided to use a 4-4-2 set up. Lineup: Abed-Hussain - Al-Omar, Ahmed, Abu-Hasan, Shuaa - Abu-Mustafa, Ismail, Ahmed, Ushnanai - Yousif, El-Akram.

Riyadh started off with a 5-2-3 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Husseiny - Papuashvili, Ríos Ríos, Kahr, Wawrzyczek, Dellapina - Söyrinki, Wekking - Kovachevski, Peón de Rey, Campetella.

Riyadh tried to focus their attacks down the middle. alkaser's A. Al-Omar left the field after 11 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was A. Khallali. The visiting I. Söyrinki was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 17 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score. H. Ahmed of alkaser was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. After 26 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for I. Söyrinki who increased Riyadh's lead to 0 - 2. 27 minutes into the match, D. Peón de Rey came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. Riyadh increased their lead after 30 minutes when A. Dellapina broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 3, much to the home crowd's dismay. The players of Riyadh now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. The visitors' V. Kovachevski took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 32 minutes into the match. 0 - 4 for Riyadh. With 34 minutes played, M. Abu-Mustafa of alkaser fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. The coach of Riyadh was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 44 minutes, J. Brinkman came on for A. Wekking. 0 - 4 was the score after the first half. Riyadh had most of the ball, with 76 percent of possession.

C. Campetella received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 53 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 5. The Riyadh fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. Riyadh had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. After 64 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave J. Kahr a chance to increase the lead for Riyadh, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 6. N. Hamdan was called on to replace Riyadh's A. Dellapina after 71 minutes following a nasty collision. J. Ríos Ríos received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 75 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 7. The Riyadh fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. Riyadh's S. Husseiny had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 78 minutes having been played. M. Pałubiński was the replacement. 81 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 8 as C. Campetella finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. After 85 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed C. Campetella to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 9. At that, C. Campetella was noted down for a hat trick! Riyadh claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 81 percent.

T. Yousif performed admirably for alkaser. H. El-Akram was a disappointment, however. Riyadh's top performer was clearly J. Kahr. M. Pałubiński on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 9.
