(389891933)

22-07-2012 16.30
Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and
The NEST saw a crowd turnout of 64362.
Klemens Kutter was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Philipp Pinter and
Oscar Portea.
Phaenix started off with a 3-4-3 lineup.
The following players took the field: Hyman - Holland, Amar, Otazo - Egues, Kolbenholz, Bura, Vattuone - Ogiela, de la Peña, Vraciu.
Wisla k decided to use a 5-3-2 set up.
Lineup: Roosenboom - Fantappiè, Hammacher, McDonald, Friel, Sezek - Chętkowski, Olsson, Haaja - Gomes Rocha, Akoulis.
Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Wisla k.
Wisla k's
S. McDonald left the field after 12 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
S. Zapata.
Some great play up the middle by Phaenix led to a chance for
A. Kolbenholz to score after 31 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar.
After 34 minutes, Phaenix sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
C. Vattuone, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 1 - 0.
Phaenix's
F. Bura got himself booked for a foul.
36 minutes into the game, Phaenix had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to
solid.
After 39 minutes,
A. de la Peña put Phaenix ahead 2 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
The players of Phaenix now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 40 minutes, Phaenix did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker,
S. Vraciu was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 3 - 0.
The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 0.
Phaenix had most of the ball, with 74 percent of possession.
During the break, Phaenix's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to
solid organisation.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Phaenix to 4 - 0 as
E. Amar finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
Phaenix's
T. Holland was shown a yellow card after 57 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
The home side's
F. Bura came close to extending the lead 58 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but
S. Roosenboom managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop.
After 59 minutes, Wisla k surprised their opponents with a breakaway counter attack. The defenders had to resort to a foul to stop it. The free kick that followed was a clever indirect effort that almost succeeded, but the defence read the situation well and the intended recipient was left ruing what might have been.
The Phaenix free kick 81 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
S. Vraciu, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 5 - 0!
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
E. Otazo from Phaenix a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 83 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Phaenix, with 77 percent of the ball.
Most important Phaenix player was
I. Hyman.
A. Egues on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Wisla k's best player was
A. Gomes Rocha.
On the other hand,
S. Zapata's play was disheartening.
The match ends 5 - 0.
