Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and
Old Grange saw a crowd turnout of 34692.
Paweł 'Capitano' Kazulek was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Alois Kapkiner and
Emmanuel Kervadec.
Everyone was excited about the upcoming
Dublin derby and the crowd was divided evenly.
Depressants tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
Starters: Ripollés - Andrić, Westman, Leers - Bengtsson, Dimitrov, Doñapalla, Harms, Gray - Özal, Pijl.
Collectors decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
They fielded: Žvīgurs - do Rancho, Tejada Muro, Lührs - Fradinho, Gnatenko, Pettersson, Orellana Toro, Kauranen - Raszczuk, Gassama.
It was an obvious ambition of Collectors to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
Depressants's
O. Özal tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders.
O. Özal caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 17 minutes. This gave Depressants the 1 - 0 lead.
Collectors levelled the score after 23 minutes to make it 1 - 1, as
M. Kauranen struck home after a fine midfield combination through the centre, which left him completely unmarked.
Depressants's
H. Pijl showed off his trademark ability to do the unexpected with a tricky pass after 24 minutes. Unfortunately,
R. Bengtsson was startled by the play and wasn't able to control the finish.
It was obvious that Collectors had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle.
The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when
M. Gassama was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 26 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead!
Depressants were very close to putting themselves one up after 27 minutes as
M. Doñapalla got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide.
1 - 1 was the halftime score.
Depressants enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
H. Pijl from Depressants a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 47 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Unfortunately for Collectors,
I. Žvīgurs was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field.
B. Gaubert replaced him.
After 64 minutes,
M. Dimitrov came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 2 - 1, giving Depressants the lead.
67 minutes into the game, Depressants were awarded a penalty that
O. Özal turned into 3 - 1 without a problem.
Collectors had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead.
Collectors had a fair chance to reply after 76 minutes due to some fine moves down the left, but in the end
C. Raszczuk was slow to keep up with the play and was unable to make it into the penalty box to apply a finish.
Depressants managed to extend their lead to 4 - 1 when
O. Özal cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
By then
O. Özal had scored three goals - a hat trick!
After 81 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
H. Pijl gave the Depressants supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 5 - 1.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Depressants lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
Collectors fought on and, after 83 minutes,
C. Fradinho was able to reduce the deficit to 5 - 2 after some excellent moves on the right side were finished off with an incredibly clever chip.
Depressants claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.
Most important Depressants player was
M. Dimitrov.
M. Doñapalla turned in a dismal performance, however.
Collectors's best player was
M. Gassama.
B. Gaubert was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 5 - 2.
