previous 1/10 next 3/10  OLIFLIP 9 - 0 Bayern (389898617)

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 29876 at AMS OLIFLIP Arena today. Anthony Ruft was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jim Andeweg and Tristan Olenwald. Everyone was excited about the upcoming Dublin derby and the crowd was divided evenly. OLIFLIP started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. Starters: Wegner - van Jole, Breene, Cotobad, Gaglione - Giler, Bassewitz, Bathers, Curtis - Buscarinu, Faria.

Bayern had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. They fielded: Nowowiejski - Galvin, Osman, Houghton, McAuliffe - Flood, Kilcoyne, Duggan, Hanratty - Smith, Clancy.

OLIFLIP decided to play creatively. OLIFLIP took the lead 6 minutes in, as G. Giler broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. OLIFLIP increased the lead as B. Bathers struck to make the score 2 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, A. Breene got himself booked. The manager of OLIFLIP was not happy. OLIFLIP put themselves up 3 - 0 when M. Buscarinu broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. By now, the players in OLIFLIP felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. After 41 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and B. Bathers gave the OLIFLIP supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 4 - 0. 4 - 0 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by OLIFLIP, with 81 percent of the ball.

Content with how the game was proceeding, the OLIFLIP coach let M. Brotto replace J. Curtis after 66 minutes. OLIFLIP's X. Cotobad increased the lead to 5 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 68 minutes. M. Buscarinu left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 70 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. P. Guyton was the replacement. With 73 minutes played, OLIFLIP put themselves up 6 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to P. Guyton, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. The referee showed OLIFLIP's P. Guyton the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. N. Gaglione had a fantastic opportunity to put OLIFLIP up another goal 78 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. M. Brotto's speed is always a threat when he gets a little room to move, and 79 minutes into the match was no different as he broke free of his man to send a delightful through ball to P. Guyton who knocked it in for OLIFLIP. 7 - 0! OLIFLIP solidified their lead at the 83 minute mark, as O. van Jole dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 8 - 0. OLIFLIP put in a good effort on the right, but N. Gaglione saw his volley fly wide of the mark 86 minutes into the game. After 87 minutes, OLIFLIP sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached M. Brotto, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 9 - 0. Possession in this half belonged to OLIFLIP, who controlled the ball 87 percent of the time.

Most important OLIFLIP player was B. Bathers. N. Gaglione was a disappointment, however. Bayern's top performer was clearly M. Duggan. On the other hand, C. Flood's play was disheartening. The match ends 9 - 0.
