The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when N. Tordo was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 2 minutes into the match. Patrício received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 3 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score. The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 8 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from J. Basto, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. D. Coelho Domingos's name was chanted throughout the stadium after he made a fantastic save from S. Chapeleiro's shot from the left 15 minutes into the match. 26 minutes into the game, D. Coelho Domingos had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came L. Lima Ferreira. A cross coming in on the right hand side left D. Pimentel alone in front of the goal after 42 minutes but his shot was woeful. I. Coelho Pereira was called on to replace cue's A. Caldeira after 43 minutes following a nasty collision. 1 - 0 was the score after the first half. Neither team was controlling the possession at this point in the match, with the stats showing a 50:50 split.

With 52 minutes played, the visitors could have drawn level after S. Chapeleiro came through the middle, but his kick went wide. River's S. Chapeleiro had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 56 minutes having been played. L. de Castro was the replacement. With 58 minutes played, F. Coelho came in from the right and could have evened the score, but the defenders successfully repelled the attack by River. After 74 minutes River's B. Curval contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. A great save by keeper C. Ribeiro Azevedo after 75 minutes kept the visitors in the game after A. Patrocínio struck from the left with a real cannonball. Some brilliant football from the visitors' right wing resulted in a levelling of the score as River's V. Meiga put the ball in the onion bag after 78 minutes to make it 1 - 1. River's S. Galiza managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 80 minutes. 1 - 2. River enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.

cue's best player was A. Patrocínio. A. de Oliveira was a disappointment, however. River's top performer was clearly L. de Castro. C. Ribeiro Azevedo turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 2.
