(389951329)

15-07-2012 18.25
Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and
A.C. PAIOL Arena saw a crowd turnout of 12000.
Olivier Dutertre was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Salvatore Kessinger and
Magnus Torin.
All of
Santiago was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby.
PAIOL tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
They fielded: Faria - Augusto, Sousa, Palmira, Patilhas - Sá, Maia Pereira, Loureiro, Oliveira Soares - Gomes, Gonçalves Miguel.
A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Domingos.
Lineup: América - Carmo, Bastos, Conceição, Barata - Barroso, Chicote, Agostinho, Fernandes - Maia, Trigo.
This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when
M. Agostinho slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against
I. Faria, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes.
P. Oliveira Soares of PAIOL was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
L. Gonçalves Miguel, but the PAIOL player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0!
A really bad tackle inside the penalty area 21 minutes into the match gave the referee no other choice but to award the visiting Domingos a penalty.
D. Carmo knocked it home. 1 - 1
With 28 minutes played
H. Gomes almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide.
The terraces were silenced after 29 minutes when Domingos's
D. Carmo put the guests ahead 1 - 2, following an attack on the right.
It was 1 - 2 at the break.
This part of the game was a standoff between the teams in terms of possession.
66 minutes in, and PAIOL were able to score the equalising goal to make it 2 - 2 when
F. Maia Pereira picked up a pass coming in from the right and chipped it past the away team's keeper.
Domingos's goal to make the score 2 - 3 came via a questionable penalty, but
D. Carmo struck it home without a second thought.
At that,
D. Carmo was noted down for a hat trick!
PAIOL's
A. Sá made an attempt at equalising 73 minutes into the match, coming in from the right, but the ball hit the post and the defence easily cleared the rebound.
H. Gomes showed the skills that make him a real crowd pleaser as he, after 80 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 3 - 3 equaliser away.
Possession in this half belonged to Domingos, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.
PAIOL's top performer was clearly
H. Gomes.
I. Faria turned in a dismal performance, however.
Most important Domingos player was
D. Trigo.
G. Conceição on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 3 - 3.
