Veselinović of Yaoundé fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. In a rapid move 22 minutes into the match, P. Veselinović of Yaoundé lost his man and passed the ball to the unmarked J. Biyik who easily hit it home to make it 2 - 0. Luckily the ref didn't see him taunting the opposing fans in celebration - naughty boy! Things were going to get worse for the visitors. C. Ipolla squirmed through their central defence after 31 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 0. The referee showed Yaoundé's B. Rosenlund the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Kanas's C. Ndo went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention. 41 minutes into the match J. Biyik put Yaoundé ahead 4 - 0 with a truly marvelous free kick. Yaoundé put themselves up 5 - 0 when C. Ipolla broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. Confident in their lead, Yaoundé's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. It was 5 - 0 at the break. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Yaoundé, with 83 percent of the ball.

Cheers filled the stadium as B. Rosenlund broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 6 - 0 to Yaoundé. Kanas's H. Biyik got himself booked for a foul. Y. Nguimgo had a fantastic opportunity to put Yaoundé up another goal 55 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave C. Biya from Yaoundé a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 65 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! The player down was S. Zanga. The Kanas bench looked worried for a while, but in the end he managed to get up. Yaoundé's Y. Nguimgo increased the lead to 7 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 70 minutes. Yaoundé managed to extend their lead to 8 - 0 when B. Rosenlund cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. By then B. Rosenlund had scored three goals - a hat trick! Yaoundé solidified their lead at the 74 minute mark, as A. Tassiokos dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 9 - 0. Yaoundé's B. Nkoma had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 86 minutes having been played. J. Zanga was the replacement. Yaoundé had most of the ball, with 89 percent of possession.

Yaoundé's best player was B. Rosenlund. Q. Rodier was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Kanas player was without a doubt D. Eto'o. However, E. Chiangeh made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 9 - 0.
