previous 7/10 next 9/10  Kimberley 3 - 1 Isotopes (390050687)

45076 spectators had found their way to Dirty Realism Cathedral, despite the heavy rain. Enzo Facciolo was the appointed referee. Kimberley tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination. They fielded: Ibrahim - Faulkner, Dromgoole, Hobson, MacCarrghamhna - Ries, Farndale, Finlay, Yarwood, Hopper - Dillon.

Isotopes had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Warrick - Cafranga, Cereto, Gosset - Çalkın, MacAirt, Gillis, Cartwright, Pääkkölä - Herrera, Bent.

Kimberley saw most attack opportunities on the wings. The boggy pitch disrupted the game, especially for technical players like Ç. Çalkın. O. Dromgoole didn't let the weather get him down and made some great moves on the pitch in spite of the rain. After 33 minutes of play, A. Finlay gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. Ç. Çalkın made a run for the goal 34 minutes into the game but the home team's left back managed to sort the situation out in the end. It was obvious that Kimberley had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. A. Ries increased the lead for Kimberley to 2 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! Kimberley's K. Yarwood swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. With 41 minutes played, J. Gosset had a fantastic opportunity to reply but his shot flew harmlessly into the side-netting of the goal. 2 - 0 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to Kimberley, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.

Isotopes needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 46 minutes H. Bent made way for O. Lineker. The home team's fans were upset when, after 47 minutes, the visiting Q. Cereto broke through the central defence and kicked the ball past the keeper. 2 - 1 was the score. It was a bad day for the usually speedy A. Ries. The mud seemed to slow him down. With 72 minutes played, J. Herrera came in from the right and could have evened the score, but the defenders successfully repelled the attack by Isotopes. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Kimberley scored another to make it 3 - 1 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for R. Dillon after 79 minutes. Kimberley had most of the ball, with 52 percent of possession.

O. Dromgoole performed admirably for Kimberley. However, S. Faulkner made a disastrous appearance. Isotopes's top performer was clearly E. Gillis. C. Warrick was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 1.
