previous 4/10 next 6/10  Kimberley 3 - 0 BoysFromTheDwarf (390050695)

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 56950 had shown up at Dirty Realism Cathedral for the match. Coos van Laerhoven was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Desmond MacGrath and Lionel Canovas. Kimberley started off with a 4-5-1 lineup. Lineup: Ibrahim - Faulkner, Dromgoole, Hobson, MacCarrghamhna - Ries, Farndale, Finlay, Yarwood, Hopper - Dillon.

A 5-4-1 alignment was the formation of choice for BoysFromTheDwarf. The following players took the field: Teixeira - Ender, Thomas, Singh, Mugridge, Shackleton - Vaughan, Allen, Barratt, Powell - Harlow.

The wings were the focus of most of Kimberley's attacks today. BoysFromTheDwarf clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. BoysFromTheDwarf mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 11 minutes, but M. Ender was unable to convert from short range. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave M. Ender from BoysFromTheDwarf a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 17 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Due to a severely mistimed tackle, G. Ibrahim of Kimberley spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game. A lovely run by Kimberley's A. Ries left his markers for dead and should have resulted in a goal, but the finish went just wide. 37 minutes into the game, BoysFromTheDwarf seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a inadequate level of organisation. After 38 minutes, the home side was awarded a penalty. The visitors protested wildly but the referee was adamant. S. Farndale easily put the ball away to give the lead to Kimberley. 1 - 0 It was obvious that Kimberley had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. Kimberley increased the lead as A. Finlay struck to make the score 2 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. Attacking on the wings was the choice for Kimberley, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack. The home side's J. Hopper came close to extending the lead 41 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but R. Teixeira managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. 42 minutes into the match BoysFromTheDwarf's J. Shackleton head butted an opponent nastily, and so the referee sent him off immediately. C. Powell became the new BoysFromTheDwarf captain. S. Farndale of Kimberley had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game. A. Curry came in to finish the match. 2 - 0 was the halftime score. Kimberley enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 63 percent of possession.

Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of BoysFromTheDwarf was able to get his message across, and raised BoysFromTheDwarf's organisation to solid. With 50 minutes played, C. MacCarrghamhna could have brought this one home for Kimberley as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. 57 minutes into the game, BoysFromTheDwarf had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to inadequate. The bench was restless, and with 62 minutes passed BoysFromTheDwarf's coach gave D. James-Roxby the opportunity the player had been hoping for. B. Mugridge reluctantly left the field. 67 minutes in, BoysFromTheDwarf's D. Allen received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. After 71 minutes, R. Dillon put Kimberley ahead 3 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Kimberley lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. R. Dillon had a fantastic opportunity to put Kimberley up another goal 76 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. With 80 minutes played, E. Harlow of BoysFromTheDwarf fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. The referee showed BoysFromTheDwarf's T. Vaughan the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Kimberley had most of the ball, with 64 percent of possession.

The most dominating Kimberley player was without a doubt R. Dillon. However, A. Curry made a disastrous appearance. Most important BoysFromTheDwarf player was E. Harlow. R. Teixeira on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 3 - 0.
