(390051425)

29-07-2012 18.00
The 46644 fans in attendance at
Wombley were roasting in the hot sun.
Danys Štulcas was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Dominik Śmieja and
Sondee Popat.
Bongos tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
They fielded: Lanza - Skov-Jensen, Ellard, Torrão - Rønnov, Năstăsescu, Trasmonte, Gluschenko, Stefanutti - Shackleton, Comelles.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for AllStarrs.
Starters: Aftyka - Cesetti, Sailer, Beranizo - Ondet, Bavastro, Valdés, Spørring, Picão - Girão, Buonfini.
AllStarrs had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 9 minutes in when
G. Ondet came up alone against
G. Lanza who managed a block.
Several players seemed a little dazed by the warm weather, and were repeatedly tricked by the clever and agile
B. Spørring.
H. Shackleton caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 23 minutes. This gave Bongos the 1 - 0 lead.
Always quick and a menace to his opponents,
L. Stefanutti was very close to getting through after 25 minutes, but he could only put the ball into the keeper's arms.
H. Girão finished off a quick charge from the left of the field by chipping the ball just past the home side's keeper, making the score 1 - 1 26 minutes into the match.
Given a free kick in a difficult position after 37 minutes, Bongos tried a variation that they had practised in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish.
Halftime score was 1 - 1.
AllStarrs enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.
Down the middle came
G. Buonfini, making a fantastic play that nearly had AllStarrs take the lead after 50 minutes, but
G. Lanza preserved the tie.
60 minutes into the game,
A. Picão had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide.
Bongos mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 61 minutes, but
H. Shackleton was unable to convert from short range.
Bongos fans held their breath as
D. Gluschenko scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 2 - 1!
B. Skov-Jensen should probably have put his team up another goal after 69 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
T. Aftyka kept the visitors in the game.
With 83 minutes played,
J. Bavastro came in from the right and could have evened the score, but the defenders successfully repelled the attack by AllStarrs.
84 minutes into the game Bongos managed a counterattack, but
M. Comelles took a soft shot from the left flank that was easy prey for the alert keeper.
AllStarrs claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.
Most important Bongos player was
M. Comelles.
However,
D. Gluschenko made a disastrous appearance.
B. Spørring performed admirably for AllStarrs.
G. Ondet was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 2 - 1.
