29-07-2012 18.00
Clouds darkened the skies at
Anfield Rap Stadium as 35175 spectators turned up for the match.
Ingemar Stjärnbratt was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Francisco Jonné and
Abou Berden.
Leftfoot had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation.
Starters: Bertilsson - Seeberg, Di Nunno - Nikiforoff, Raassina, Sarratea, Flörsheim, Nygård - Chiarito, Sepp, Mançu.
Will decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
Lineup: Verdonk - Kingston, Bordignon, Sparacino, Timóteo - Putilovas, McManus, Calzada, Via - Hache, Tarhouni.
Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 11 minutes into the match left Will's
Y. Hache completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors.
There was concern in the stands when, at the 27 minute mark, Will's
W. Kingston hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch.
The visitors'
Y. Hache took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 28 minutes into the match. 0 - 2 for Will.
H. Mançu did everything he could to get one back for his Leftfoot, but keeper
M. Verdonk denied him with a spectacular block.
35 minutes into the match Will's
W. McManus viciously shoved another player from behind while going for a loose ball and was sent off the pitch with a red card.
R. Sepp of Leftfoot had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game.
L. Petch came in to finish the match.
After 38 minutes, a counter attack by Will was converted into a decent free kick opportunity. However, the indirect free kick routine was easily anticipated by the defenders. A textbook example of how to defend a free kick - the attackers were left with few viable options.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
M. Sarratea from Leftfoot a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 39 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
It was 0 - 2 at the break.
Leftfoot had most of the ball, with 77 percent of possession.
With 61 minutes played,
J. Raassina was very close to reducing the score for Leftfoot with a low drive from the left, but a defender stuck his foot out just in the nick of time, blocking the shot to a corner.
64 minutes in, Leftfoot's
L. Petch received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
Leftfoot had a brilliant opportunity to reply as
A. Di Nunno received a high ball from the right, striking the ball in the air. Only
M. Verdonk's reflexes saved him.
Will's
Y. Hache was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 78 minutes.
Possession in this half belonged to Leftfoot, who controlled the ball 74 percent of the time.
Leftfoot's top performer was clearly
H. Mançu.
On the other hand,
L. Petch's play was disheartening.
The most dominating Will player was without a doubt
A. Tarhouni.
However,
W. Kingston made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 0 - 2.
