The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 38293 had shown up at
willo's sluts Arena for the match.
Artur Fuster was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Helmar Beckmann and
Kent Norlind.
A 5-4-1 alignment was the formation of choice for willos.
The following players had been chosen: Gaúcho - Baensch, Cheatle, Iturrioz, Gün, Vara - Little, Pescetto, Jago, Clark - Jacob.
Baggies decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
They fielded: Baerselman - Kramm, Vales, Urvet - Ramold, Ghorbani, Hurkens, Rocafort, Lipshten - Kucheruk, Meadows.
The strategy for willos was to use their ability to press.
It was an obvious ambition of Baggies to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
Baggies were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings.
Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 11 minutes into the match left Baggies's
R. Ghorbani completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors.
The referee showed Baggies's
E. Rocafort the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
willos's
E. Iturrioz went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention.
A drive down the left side allowed
E. Rocafort to get in close and score another goal for Baggies after 15 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 2.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
E. Iturrioz got himself booked. The manager of willos was not happy.
M. Kramm received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 33 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 3. The Baggies fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
The corner kick from
W. Clark was powerfully met by the head of
B. Pescetto to make the score 1 - 3.
Baggies increased their lead after 39 minutes when
K. Meadows broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 4, much to the home crowd's dismay.
After this, you could see that the players of Baggies were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
willos pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a stalemate at times.
1 - 4 was the score after the first half.
Possession in this half belonged to Baggies, who controlled the ball 77 percent of the time.
willos's
B. Pescetto got the home crowd going when he finished off a left wing charge, reducing the away team's lead to 2 - 4.
After 74 minutes willos's
N. Baensch limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue.
80 minutes in, willos's
B. Pescetto received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
82 minutes into the game, Baggies were awarded a penalty and
E. Urvet was able to increase the visitors' lead to 2 - 5 rolling the ball in by the right post.
The home crowd was not impressed when
N. Lipshten came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 84 minutes. Baggies were now up 2 - 6.
Baggies had most of the ball, with 80 percent of possession.
W. Clark performed admirably for willos.
However,
N. Baensch made a disastrous appearance.
Baggies's top performer was clearly
R. Ghorbani.
M. Kramm turned in a dismal performance, however.
