Clouds darkened the skies at
Freak Show Arena as 37367 spectators turned up for the match.
Morgan Bras was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Martin Tungström and
Joan Barguño.
Freak tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination.
Lineup: Herrera - Knight, Kawasawa, Russ, Branišauskas - Neustadt, Massidda, Drögeneck, Gaúcho, Ciube - Puttenaers.
2pac decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
They fielded: Argov - Viktor, Grange, Janik - Ezzati, Suvela, Lama Cuevas, Leguay, Swien - Goce, Le Meur.
Down the middle came
F. Le Meur, making a fantastic play that nearly had 2pac take the lead after 14 minutes, but
A. Herrera preserved the tie.
The referee showed 2pac's
G. Leguay the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
A loud groan was heard from the fans of Freak, as
A. Herrera left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match.
A. Campbell took his place on the field.
In a rapid move 31 minutes into the match,
H. Goce of 2pac lost his man and passed the ball to the unmarked
F. Le Meur who easily hit it home to make it 0 - 1. Luckily the ref didn't see him taunting the opposing fans in celebration - naughty boy!
2pac's
M. Viktor had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 33 minutes having been played.
V. Ferron was the replacement.
0 - 1 was the halftime score.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Freak, with 54 percent of the ball.
The Freak coach was desperate to reverse his team's fortunes in the game, and ordered his team to change strategy.
With 65 minutes played, the Freak coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
J. Vanzo came on,
J. Russ had to leave the fray.
Freak's
J. Puttenaers almost tied things up with 67 minutes played after breaking through on the right, but his shot deflected off the post.
Freak needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 70 minutes
M. Neustadt made way for
K. Wilczyński.
After 74 minutes, Freak used a short break in the game to take new instructions from their coach.
Had it not been for one of the home defenders,
G. Leguay would have put 2pac up another goal 76 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
L. Knight got himself booked. The manager of Freak was not happy.
With 83 minutes having been played, Freak scored to make it 1 - 1. A dribble down the left wing, followed by a shot which took a wicked bounce off a defender resulted in the keeper having no chance. Everyone thought it'd been an own goal, but
R. Drögeneck was marked down as the scorer.
Freak enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 54 percent of possession.
Most important Freak player was
R. Drögeneck.
On the other hand,
A. Campbell's play was disheartening.
H. Goce performed admirably for 2pac.
F. Ezzati was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 1 - 1.
