Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Accademicals. They were singing the praises of K. Lacey 2 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to Accademicals. The referee showed Accademicals's T. van Beek the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. With 12 minutes played, the visitors could have drawn level after H. Goce came through the middle, but his kick went wide. 19 minutes into the game 2pac's H. Goce found a gap in the home side's central defence and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 1 - 1. Slack defending gave Accademicals a chance to take the lead with 27 minutes played, but B. Devas's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition. With 28 minutes played, 2pac's A. Suvela missed an opportunity to put his team one up from the penalty spot, later claiming that "the floodlights blinded him". 2pac's J. Janik was shown a yellow card after 34 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Accademicals were forced into a substitution as A. Orlando couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing H. Campbell to come in off the bench. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to 2pac, who controlled the ball 56 percent of the time.

Accademicals made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left B. Devas completely alone with keeper D. Argov, who made a spectacular block. Accademicals broke through on the left 63 minutes into the game, with J. van Oort firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 2 - 1 lead. After 70 minutes Accademicals's H. Kronberger contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. V. Ferron was called on to replace 2pac's J. Janik after 72 minutes following a nasty collision. The visiting team's G. Leguay was able to score the 2 - 2 equaliser with a header 81 minutes into the match, after some good work on the right. With 83 minutes played J. van Oort almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide. 2pac claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 56 percent.

Most important Accademicals player was M. Del Rosso. M. Calton on the other hand, had a terrible day. H. Goce performed admirably for 2pac. F. Ezzati was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 2.
