Wakering 3 - 2 Slackers
(390054072)

19-08-2012 18.00
Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 50000 to
Black Heart Lane.
Marcos Martín was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Kévin Grisard and
Jadran Amic.
Wakering had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Utters - Semov, Cano, Temprano - Bartelloni, Ramos, Farnè, Leeghwater, Rowiński - Éger, Dalum.
A 4-3-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Slackers.
Starters: Hundleby - Keith, Hatchard, Caiger, Whitehead - Allen, Boyack, Delgado - Williams, Gilyead, Sage.
Slackers clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle.
E. Dalum could have put Wakering into the lead after 2 minutes, but the free kick went just wide.
Slackers's
E. Delgado had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 24 minutes having been played.
M. Spann was the replacement.
After 28 minutes,
K. Éger came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 1 - 0, giving Wakering the lead.
29 minutes into the game Slackers's
M. Sage found a gap in the home side's central defence and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 1 - 1.
Wakering broke through on the left 37 minutes into the game, with
T. Semov firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 2 - 1 lead.
After 40 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
R. Rowiński gave the Wakering supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 3 - 1.
Halftime score was 3 - 1.
Wakering claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 58 percent.
The home team's fans were upset when, after 50 minutes, the visiting
W. Whitehead broke through the central defence and kicked the ball past the keeper. 3 - 2 was the score.
T. Semov of Wakering was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
K. Éger could have put Wakering up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 59 minutes.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
K. Éger got himself booked. The manager of Wakering was not happy.
G. Ambruş was called on to replace Wakering's
T. Semov after 66 minutes following a nasty collision.
With 74 minutes played, Wakering's
L. Bartelloni almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net.
After 82 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
C. Ramos might have resulted in another goal for Wakering. However,
C. Hundleby made a spectacular save.
Possession in this half belonged to Wakering, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.
Most important Wakering player was
E. Dalum.
G. Ambruş on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Slackers's top performer was clearly
T. Williams.
R. Hatchard was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 3 - 2.
