Green 2 - 2 Twarriors (390054507)

47001 spectators had found their way to Crosspool Stadium, despite the heavy rain. Filip Kapaník was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Giuseppe Arcellotti and Vassil Vúlkov. A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Green. Starters: Hiraki - Peters, Izmendi - Frahm, Di Pierno, Spanidis, Lanzoni, Marzewski - Szok, Rocamora, Åhén.

Twarriors had chosen a strategic 4-3-3 formation. The following players took the field: 燦忠 (Canzhong) - Stretowicz, Rikala, Pushka, Albisser - Foody, Goldsmith, D'Ambrosio - Trolin, Packer, Booth.

Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Twarriors. Some great play up the middle by Green led to a chance for I. Spanidis to score after 9 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. 12 minutes into the game, Twarriors had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to solid. Good work by the Twarriors defensive line after 18 minutes produced a good counterattack chance, which cut elegantly down the middle of the pitch and found I. Rikala alone in front of the goal, but his shot whistled just wide. Many thought J. Szok ought to have been awarded a penalty 22 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around 翁. 燦忠 (Canzhong) after a determined run through the middle. 24 minutes into the game, Twarriors seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a passable level of organisation. In a rapid move 25 minutes into the match, T. Booth of Twarriors lost his man and passed the ball to the unmarked A. Trolin who easily hit it home to make it 0 - 1. Luckily the ref didn't see him taunting the opposing fans in celebration - naughty boy! N. Albisser of Twarriors seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 0 - 2 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by T. Booth. Confident in their lead, Twarriors's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. J. Di Pierno challenged the visitors' central defence eagerly, producing a good chance 36 minutes into the game as he went for a through ball. But, as so many times before, the guests' defensive efforts got the best of it. 0 - 2 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to Green, who controlled the ball 69 percent of the time.

A review of the gameplan helped Twarriors get back to a solid organisation when the referee blew his whistle again. Green refused to be intimidated and, breaking through the middle, K. Åhén managed to slip the ball home for 1 - 2. After 54 minutes Green's J. Di Pierno limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. B. Frahm, who often relies on his speed, had a rotten day on the drenched grass. Coming in from the right, Twarriors had a good opportunity to convert on a counterattack after 67 minutes, but A. Trolin's attempt to finish was easily stopped. Twarriors's I. Rikala had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 71 minutes having been played. T. Classens was the replacement. After 74 minutes, X. Rocamora got through on the right and was very close to equalising for the home side, but didn't get the shot away. With the scoreboard showing that 75 minutes had been played, Twarriors nearly put themselves up another goal after W. Foody came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. J. Szok made a superb strike after 78 minutes with a shot straight in front of the goal after a long ball through the middle, but one of the visitors' defenders got a foot in at the last second and warded it off for a corner. After a scuffle in the guests' penalty area 79 minutes into the game, the home team was awarded a penalty. J. Peters scored to make it 2 - 2. Green had most of the ball, with 69 percent of possession.

K. Åhén performed admirably for Green. However, B. Frahm made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Twarriors player was without a doubt T. Booth. T. Classens was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 2.
