28339 fans braved the pouring rain at
FC POLIGON.

Antonio Gyulai and
Themba Ngidhi.
Poligoners tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Metsi - Bucknall, Szkoda, Schatten - Faucon, Durkin, Vigorito, Storeide - Söderin, Šulnys, Albán.
Fingers had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Collantes - Meirov, Figueiredo, Stålesen - Goossen, Luesley, Uribe, Olmos, Cholmondley-Warner - Alesi, van Agtmaal.
Poligoners were relying on their ability to counter-attack.
The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when
J. Goossen was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 7 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead!
Fingers took the lead 18 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle.
V. van Agtmaal was the scorer.
D. Schatten of Poligoners received a yellow card after 27 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
M. Luesley was having a great game - if anything the pouring rain seemed to be spurring him on!
The boggy pitch disrupted the game, especially for technical players like
J. Olmos.
Fingers's
M. Alesi made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 40 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line.
It was 0 - 1 at the break.
Fingers enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 71 percent of possession.
L. Cholmondley-Warner left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 47 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
A. Devesa was the replacement.
After 65 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
E. Uribe a chance to increase the lead for Fingers, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 2.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the Fingers coach let
G. Andreev replace
M. Luesley after 68 minutes.
M. Alesi became the new Fingers captain.
Fingers had a magnificent opportunity after 69 minutes as
J. Goossen hit the ball hard from the edge of the penalty box. However, the shot went wide.
The Fingers players could smell victory in the air.
E. Uribe wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
A. Balengier after 70 minutes.
J. Goossen increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 3.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Fingers lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
With 83 minutes played,
V. van Agtmaal of Fingers fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
With 87 minutes of the game having been played,
A. Balengier received a blow to the hip in a collision and was unable to continue. Fingers, with no available replacements, now faced the prospect of finishing the game with a reduced number of players.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Fingers, with 66 percent of the ball.
M. Szkoda performed admirably for Poligoners.
However,
V. Metsi made a disastrous appearance.
The most dominating Fingers player was without a doubt
V. van Agtmaal.
Y. Stålesen was a disappointment, however.
