The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 17257 had shown up at The Vladivoj Holčák Arena for the match. Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Friskeys. Corinthian were relying on their ability to counter-attack. 32 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Friskeys to take the lead after a good cross from the right found E. Anselmet alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post. Corinthian's A. Mulà could have put the guests one up after 35 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but D. Bray was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. J. Irmscher stunned the crowd with a brilliant counterattack from the left, giving Friskeys the goal to make it 1 - 0. With 39 minutes played, J. Matyjaszek came in from the right and could have evened the score, but the defenders successfully repelled the attack by Corinthian. Halftime score was 1 - 0. Corinthian claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 70 percent.

Coming through the middle T. Friedmann almost scored the equaliser for Corinthian after 46 minutes, but D. Bray made an excellent save, tipping the awkwardly curled shot past the post. A cross coming in on the right hand side left T. Friedmann alone in front of the goal after 53 minutes but his shot was woeful. With 54 minutes played, the visitors could have drawn level after A. Mulà came through the middle, but his kick went wide. After 55 minutes Friskeys tried to exploit their counterattacking skills, unfortunately, C. Pillone's shot sailed wide after his break down the right. Corinthian enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 75 percent of possession.

D. Bray performed admirably for Friskeys. C. Borges-Brown on the other hand, had a terrible day. Corinthian's best player was O. Hendon. A. Fracchia was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 0.
