previous 2/4 next 4/4  Blueski 0 - 2 Red Mist (390057962)

Dark skies made the crowd of 20000 at King's Road a little nervous, but the rain held off. Goran Glavović was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Maximiliano Fox and Stan Nolan. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Blueski. Lineup: Acosta - Carrington, Pál, Vita - Condon, San Esteban, Caravantes, Olmo, Rowe - Hans, Wallis.

Red Mist tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Starters: Gonçalves Barros - Mannari, Gratschmeier, Ullathorne - Spalding, Anger, Czubaszek, Azevedo, Licari - Király, Mena.

Blueski tried to focus their attacks down the middle. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Red Mist's D. Mannari after 14 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 0 - 1 lead. 15 minutes in, Blueski's B. Rowe received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. After 20 minutes, G. Licari sent the corner kick right to D. Mannari who headed it sharply past the keeper. 0 - 2! At this point, it was obvious that the players of Red Mist lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. Some things can only be learned through experience, and J. Olmo should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Red Mist a goal with 26 minutes of the match played. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Blueski, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. Halftime score was 0 - 2. Blueski enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 59 percent of possession.

Still trailing on the score board, Blueski adjusted their tactics after 46 minutes. B. Rowe had a quick chat at the side line, then switched positions with C. Carrington. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Blueski's B. Rowe was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 46 minutes. J. De Rogatis was given a chance to change things around. After 47 minutes J. Caravantes could have reduced the lead with a blistering strike from the left wing, had it not been for an excellent block by the visitors' keeper. The home side worked hard to get through the middle and as a result, had a good chance of getting one back as J. Caravantes tried lifting the ball over keeper H. Gonçalves Barros. Unfortunately, the ball went just over the bar. M. Hans charged down the left and looked sure to score for Blueski 70 minutes into the game, but his shot went just wide. Possession in this half belonged to Blueski, who controlled the ball 62 percent of the time.

Most important Blueski player was A. Wallis. However, J. De Rogatis made a disastrous appearance. Red Mist's best player was B. Király. H. Gonçalves Barros turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 2.
