The 32879 spectators at Stamford Fridge were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Philip Barton was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Gait-Jan Fetter and Dirk Kappenstein. CSB's tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination. Lineup: Moreno Sánchez - Passaretti, Donne, Alvárez, Adams - Passinhas, McQueen, Hudders, Barry, Llorente - Panepinto.

Glawster had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players took the field: Crişan - Mürsel, Friis Nielsen, Vrijsen - Ratip, Sauk, Hermann, Zamuda, Pilsgaard - Arcones, Cal.

CSB's were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Glawster's G. Hermann after 8 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 0 - 1 lead. 11 minutes into the match, J. Cal came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. With 19 minutes played, after a good run down the left, M. Hudders went down looking for a penalty after a challenge from the visitors' right fullback, but the referee waved play on, and later warned him for diving. After 21 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave B. Arcones a chance to increase the lead for Glawster, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 2. Several players seemed a little dazed by the warm weather, and were repeatedly tricked by the clever and agile A. Vrijsen. After 30 minutes, Glawster's Z. Zamuda burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 3. After this, you could see that the players of Glawster were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. 34 minutes into the game, Glawster worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. 0 - 3 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to Glawster, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.

The intense heat forced E. Alvárez into making some errors because he couldn't seem to keep up with the others. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, CSB's's M. Hudders was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 80 minutes. G. Hasnain was given a chance to change things around. M. Moreno Sánchez got a fingertip on Z. Zamuda's shot from the left 83 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. Glawster had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.

U. McQueen performed admirably for CSB's. On the other hand, E. Alvárez's play was disheartening. Glawster's best player was J. Cal. A. Vrijsen was a disappointment, however. The match ends 0 - 3.
