Clouds darkened the skies at Hyde Park Stadium as 12000 spectators turned up for the match. Magniez broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 3, much to the home crowd's dismay. After this, you could see that the players of Athletic were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. After 31 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for T. Magniez who increased Athletic's lead to 0 - 4. Athletic's T. Lemmens had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 34 minutes having been played. S. Lavelli was the replacement. Athletic's D. La Cava was shown a yellow card after 35 minutes for slicing down an opponent. 36 minutes into the game, lArche seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to weak. With 40 minutes played, Athletic put themselves up 0 - 5 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was K. Lund. 0 - 5 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Athletic, who controlled the ball 88 percent of the time.

A review of the gameplan helped lArche get back to a solid organisation when the referee blew his whistle again. After 66 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed S. Lavelli to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 6. After 83 minutes, Athletic's H. Wieliczko burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 7. 84 minutes in, lArche appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only weak. Some fine movement on the left led to a Athletic goal after 85 minutes, making it 0 - 8. M. Dayende was noted down as the scorer. With 86 minutes played, S. Lavelli nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. A drive down the left side allowed H. Wieliczko to get in close and score another goal for Athletic after 88 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 9. 89 minutes into the game, lArche had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to weak. Athletic claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 91 percent.

Most important lArche player was D. Ailstone. K. Gage on the other hand, had a terrible day. Athletic's best player was T. Magniez. J. Caspari was a disappointment, however. The match ends 0 - 9.
