The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 22997 had shown up at
Re·sur·gence Point for the match.
Jenne Van Ackerbroeck was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Leons Voldiņš and
Lars Kihler.
Rinkites started off with a 4-3-3 lineup.
They fielded: Henefeld - Panasenko, Croom-Carter, Nogueira, Bordeianu - Gliksman, Sacchi, Günzel - Jessen, Adams, Kipka.
Wanderers had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
Starters: de Araújo - Hessey, Gržigužauskas, Dârmon - Kivirauma, Francis, Rotteveel, Bailey, Rondón - Martiskainen, Karlenius.
J. Martiskainen came close to putting the visiting team one up 2 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
M. Henefeld managed to tip the ball to a corner.
29 minutes into the game,
M. Karlenius almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
R. Dârmon got himself booked. The manager of Wanderers was not happy.
Wanderers's
J. de Araújo had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 35 minutes having been played.
J. Talarczyk was the replacement.
A badly positioned defensive formation on a free kick after 36 minutes led to Wanderers's
D. Hessey giving the visitors the lead 0 - 1.
Wanderers were able to draw a foul with their counterattacks, but the shot from
D. Hessey went into the arms of the keeper.
The crowd was on its feet 39 minutes into the match, as Rinkites's
S. Croom-Carter found himself unmarked in front of the goal after a dash up the left side. He calmly put away the 1 - 1 equaliser.
1 - 1 was the score after the first half.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Wanderers, with 57 percent of the ball.
Wanderers's
A. Kivirauma was shown a yellow card after 56 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
A. Panasenko was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Rinkites's
C. Doyle had to come off the bench.
After some beautiful movement down the left wing,
T. Günzel scored for Rinkites putting them ahead 2 - 1, after 58 minutes.

G. Adams received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
A loud groan was heard from the fans of Wanderers, as
J. Talarczyk left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match.
G. de Vocht took his place on the field.
D. Hessey made a run for the goal 73 minutes into the game but the home team's left back managed to sort the situation out in the end.
Rinkites's
T. Günzel increased the lead to 3 - 1, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 79 minutes.
Wanderers managed to reduce the score to 3 - 2 as
A. Gržigužauskas finished off a well-played combination from the left, easily carving through the defence.
R. Dârmon knew he was in trouble after hacking down an opponent. Despite his pleading with the referee, the Wanderers player was shown a second yellow card and dismissed from the game.
Possession in this half belonged to Wanderers, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.
Most important Rinkites player was
G. Adams.
C. Doyle turned in a dismal performance, however.
Wanderers's best player was
S. Bailey.
However,
G. de Vocht made a disastrous appearance.
