The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 40000 had shown up at The Stomping Ground for the match. Mullin went down looking for a penalty after a challenge from the visitors' right fullback, but the referee waved play on, and later warned him for diving. After 28 minutes, C. Howard got through on the right and was very close to equalising for the home side, but didn't get the shot away. 0 - 1 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Suffolk, who controlled the ball 56 percent of the time.

Suffolk were close to equalising with a spectacular free kick by K. Wijnendaele after 64 minutes, but B. Szafarczyk made a great save, tipping it to a corner. As the game started to slip away for Suffolk, the manager decided to change the tactical approach. The Suffolk players listened closely to their manager, as he gave new tactical instructions for the team. After 79 minutes of play, V. Bãrboi equalised for Suffolk after an elegant attack from the right. S. Pollak of Wipka received a yellow card after 82 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when D. Carenzi slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against S. Jakutowicz, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. Suffolk's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 87 minutes gone, but A. Rakevičius's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper. Suffolk claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 55 percent.

Suffolk's top performer was clearly P. Iannantuoni. On the other hand, F. Badani's play was disheartening. Most important Wipka player was E. Vuorenjuuri. S. Pollak turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 1.
