Rangers 8 - 0 madrid (390072596)

A scorching day at Black Swan Lane, where 14398 spectators were in place for today's match. Andreas Haugan was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Wilderich Faessler and Adam Walker. Rangers started off with a 2-5-3 lineup. Starters: Degenhard - Kirykovich, Carlier - Urzică, Pupačić, Sereno, Mayol, Durling - Onuktan, Hill, Buchinger.

madrid decided to use a 4-4-2 set up. The following players had been chosen: O'Mahoney - Rains, Johnson, Gilreath, Stoneham - Kane, Bakker, Ward, Hyland - Barton, Usmani.

Rangers displayed their ability to play creatively. The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when J. Hyland was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 21 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead! The sun seemed to put C. Urzică in a great mood, and he showed off his technical skills all match long. After 26 minutes of play, O. Buchinger gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. D. Sereno unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. madrid's J. Hyland showed off his trademark ability to do the unexpected with a tricky pass after 32 minutes. Unfortunately, A. Barton was startled by the play and wasn't able to control the finish. After 33 minutes, Rangers's T. Carlier found the back of the goal with a beautiful free kick. 2 - 0. After this, you could see that the players of Rangers were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. The score became 3 - 0 at 34 minutes into the game, when Rangers were given a penalty which T. Carlier blasted straight down the middle giving the keeper no chance! D. Sereno of Rangers seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 4 - 0 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by T. Carlier. Halftime score was 4 - 0. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Rangers, with 65 percent of the ball.

After 53 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by B. Mayol might have resulted in another goal for Rangers. However, D. O'Mahoney made a spectacular save. madrid's J. Johnson was shown a yellow card after 55 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Unfortunately for Rangers, T. Carlier was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field. D. Tinuper replaced him. U. Degenhard was the new captain of Rangers - handed the armband by the departing player. 60 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as G. Onuktan broke through, making the score 5 - 0 for Rangers. A. Hill increased the lead for Rangers to 6 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! The game was close to savage at times, and madrid's J. Johnson received a second yellow card after 73 minutes; his ticket out of the game. Rangers were forced into a substitution as T. Pupačić couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing V. Pope to come in off the bench. Rangers's G. Onuktan increased the lead to 7 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 84 minutes. Cheers filled the stadium as B. Mayol broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 8 - 0 to Rangers. Rangers had most of the ball, with 66 percent of possession.

O. Buchinger performed admirably for Rangers. C. Urzică turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important madrid player was B. Bakker. D. O'Mahoney on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 8 - 0.
