2882 spectators had come to
Fusion Shooters Arena this cloudy day.
Florian van Oven was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Eduardo Buster and
Pasquale Accogli.
Shooters decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
The following players took the field: Cuthbert - Gardiner, Ahmed, Carragher, Charles - Crawford, Maisch, Way, Whitehouse - Misstear, Whiteman.
cegielski had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
They fielded: John - Heath, Harkness, McDowell, Duffill - Lynn, Atkins, Feldman, Henry - Dumbleton, Beard.
After 19 minutes, cegielski's
G. Dumbleton swiftly ran past
J. Carragher and nutmegged the keeper! 0 - 1.
22 minutes into the game, cegielski worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch.
D. Feldman was the first to reach the corner kick, but his header was blocked by the keeper. However, cegielski's
R. Henry managed to get hold of the rebound and tucked the ball into the empty net. 0 - 2
With 31 minutes played, Shooters's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to
S. Whiteman he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 1 - 2.
O. Duffill behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 32 minutes as he gave the ball away to
H. Crawford. Lucky for him though, there was no goal.
Shooters's
C. Charles put his head to a well placed ball, lifted in from the left, and scored to make the score 2 - 2 with 35 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock.
cegielski's
J. Beard was shown a yellow card after 37 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
B. Way's knee will be throbbing for days, but thankfully for Shooters, he bravely continued in the match.
Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 42 minutes, Shooters did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker,
S. Whitehouse was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 3 - 2.
It was 3 - 2 at the break.
Possession in this half belonged to Shooters, who controlled the ball 60 percent of the time.
With 49 minutes played, Shooters put themselves up 4 - 2 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to
O. Ahmed, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home.
51 minutes in, an amazing pass from the left side resulted in a goal for the visitors, as
J. Beard anticipated the through ball and scored, reducing the deficit to 4 - 3.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
S. Harkness got himself booked. The manager of cegielski was not happy.
Shooters were given a gift! The ref dubiously awarded them a penalty 62 minutes into the match, which was neatly put away by
K. Gardiner. 5 - 3 for the home side.
67 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
K. Gardiner broke through, making the score 6 - 3 for Shooters.
After this, you could see that the players of Shooters were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
Shooters's
C. Misstear had an excellent opportunity after 86 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles!
Shooters claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 66 percent.
Shooters's top performer was clearly
C. Misstear.
On the other hand,
D. Cuthbert's play was disheartening.
The most dominating cegielski player was without a doubt
J. Beard.
S. Harkness turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 6 - 3.
