8563 punters turned up at
Bentley Stadium, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Timon Magne was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Dorian Szlagor and
Herbert Dworschak.
Trickster started off with a 3-4-3 lineup.
Starters: Ibn-Basim - Rigato, Vierthaler, Pontes - Ohu, Maggitas, Kristiansen, Garben - Serrat, Riegelsberg, 後藤 (Goto).
Chorley tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
They fielded: Novota - Schæfer, Villa, Lassila - Neveux, Kłossowski, Torcellini, Bauzá, Szentmiklósi - Jokisalo, Aiello.
Chorley tried to focus their attacks down the middle.
6 minutes in, the referee awarded Trickster a penalty.
T. Ohu coolly slotted it home for a 1 - 0 lead.
T. Bauzá received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 12 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score.
Trickster's
T. Kristiansen had an excellent opportunity after 25 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles!
J. Serrat sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from
T. Ohu after 34 minutes of play, making the score 2 - 0.
Chorley's
F. Kłossowski was able to reply, after 35 minutes, making the score 2 - 1 with a well struck penalty.
After 39 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
M. Vierthaler might have resulted in another goal for Trickster. However,
Š. Novota made a spectacular save.
40 minutes into the game,
E. Jokisalo finished off a Chorley left wing counterattack, making the score 2 - 2.
Halftime score was 2 - 2.
Chorley claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 55 percent.
At 52 minutes played,
誠. 後藤 (Goto) came in from the right with the intention of giving Trickster the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar.
The terraces were silenced after 56 minutes when Chorley's
C. Aiello put the guests ahead 2 - 3, following an attack on the right.
E. Jokisalo increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 2 - 4.
The players of Chorley now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
The coach of Chorley was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 60 minutes,
M. Bachl came on for
P. Torcellini.
The Chorley players could smell victory in the air.
F. Kłossowski wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
H. Ben Chrouda after 60 minutes.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the Chorley coach let
A. Kocić replace
T. Bauzá after 60 minutes.
The home team's supporters got excited again when
M. Vierthaler broke through the visitors' central defence and caught their keeper off guard, making it 3 - 4.
With the scoreboard showing that 84 minutes had been played, Chorley nearly put themselves up another goal after
E. Jokisalo came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save.
Possession in this half belonged to Chorley, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.
The most dominating Trickster player was without a doubt
E. Pontes.
Z. Ibn-Basim was a disappointment, however.
Most important Chorley player was
C. Aiello.
However,
A. Kocić made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 3 - 4.
