previous 4/4 next 2/4  Team 0 - 2 Lugss (390102896)

It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 1903 that came out to Team Wasi Arena. Kurt Bittner was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Aristide Loriot and Alejandro Malky. A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Team. They fielded: Thornton - Cutting, Thorpe, Dawkins, Brown - Lennon, Wolczuk, Plunkett, Parker - Duffield, Scannell.

Lugss had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. Starters: Baron - Bertschin, Constantine, Ready, Parsons - Catron, Milsom, Stephenson, Tilly - Dooley, Brady.

Team had a chance to take the lead after L. Scannell's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled out as his shot went just over the bar after 7 minutes. Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 9 minutes into the match left Lugss's M. Bertschin completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors. With 34 minutes played, Lugss put themselves up 0 - 2 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was K. Dooley. Confident in their lead, Lugss's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 2. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Team, with 51 percent of the ball.

L. Scannell charged down the left and looked sure to score for Team 51 minutes into the game, but his shot went just wide. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave W. Dawkins from Team a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 57 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! The sunny day didn't make things easy for M. Stephenson who didn't seem his usual powerful self on the pitch. After 70 minutes Lugss tried to exploit their counterattacking skills, unfortunately, J. Brady's shot sailed wide after his break down the right. The visitors nearly scored again after 73 minutes, but a superb save by B. Thornton kept M. Bertschin's free kick out of the net. R. Catron of Lugss was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Some things can only be learned through experience, and R. Parsons should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Team a goal with 82 minutes of the match played. With 83 minutes played, K. Dooley nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, G. Ready got himself booked. The manager of Lugss was not happy. Team had most of the ball, with 51 percent of possession.

Most important Team player was I. Lennon. B. Thornton on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Lugss player was without a doubt G. Ready. On the other hand, B. Baron's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 2.
