The crowd of 24660 turning up at
CHIZ UNITED Arena today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Antonio Clementi was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Götz Miltner and
René Brogtrop.
UNITED started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
Lineup: Coudray - Sancha, Geerders, Mesken - Tinkler, Tuytte, Moinard, Leeghwater, Svensson - Amayuelas, 漢恩 (Hanen).
united tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
The following players took the field: Dublin - Bridgeman, Chang, Ruddock, Thornbarrow - Brandon, Pepper, Kaye, Lockhart - Wharton, Morgan.
UNITED seemed to prefer attacking in the middle.
With 2 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 1 - 0 lead as
D. Moinard flipped the ball in after a cross from the right.
UNITED's
M. Leeghwater increased the lead to 2 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 14 minutes.
What was
C. Tuytte thinking? That's what everyone wondered when, for no apparent reason, he shot a cross pass over his own penalty area, giving
J. Wharton an extra chance, but unfortunately for united, he didn't get the shot right.
It was obvious that team UNITED had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings.
Cheers filled the stadium as
J. Amayuelas broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 3 - 0 to UNITED.
After 34 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
J. Amayuelas gave the UNITED supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 4 - 0.
The players of UNITED now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as UNITED scored another to make it 5 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
J. Amayuelas after 42 minutes.
At that,
J. Amayuelas was noted down for a hat trick!
5 - 0 was the score after the first half.
UNITED had most of the ball, with 84 percent of possession.
UNITED's
J. Amayuelas struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 6 - 0 after 52 minutes.
After 61 minutes,
R. Svensson put UNITED ahead 7 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
D. Tinkler left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 67 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
C. Murray was the replacement.
The UNITED players could smell victory in the air.
I. Sancha wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
A. Grundgård after 71 minutes.
UNITED put themselves up 8 - 0 when
A. Grundgård broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
J. Amayuelas should probably have put his team up another goal after 81 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
H. Dublin kept the visitors in the game.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of UNITED to 9 - 0 as
I. Geerders finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
Possession in this half belonged to UNITED, who controlled the ball 86 percent of the time.
UNITED's top performer was clearly
J. Amayuelas.
G. Coudray turned in a dismal performance, however.
Most important united player was
S. Chang.
H. Dublin was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 9 - 0.
