Corinthians1 2 - 4 Corinthians2 (390106191)

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Taunton Avenue, Raynes Park saw a crowd turnout of 4326. Mor Nesher was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Paco Oliz and Amparo Zarza. People from all over London had joined up for the derby. Corinthians1 had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. Starters: Dinwoodie - Josan, Grant, Gagnepain, Rădulescu - Čeliković, Williams, Wu, Currie, Ghazanfar - Douglas.

Corinthians2 started off with a 2-5-3 lineup. Lineup: Pedragosa - Lien, Szakadáti - Merdović, Ockershausen, Méndez, Rørvik, Lamb - Gurnell, Smith, Griffin.

Corinthians2 displayed their ability to play creatively. R. Wu really should have scored when he was chosen by fate to confront a wide open goal following a great play by Y. Gagnepain after a corner. 25 minutes into the game, Corinthians1 seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to passable. After 29 minutes, Corinthians1's A. Ghazanfar swiftly ran past O. Lien and nutmegged the keeper! 1 - 0. The crowd was silenced 32 minutes into the match as the visiting team's B. Gurnell came in from the left, levelling the score to 1 - 1. The home side put themselves ahead 2 - 1 after 35 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from R. Wu, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. After 37 minutes a well-practised indirect free kick routine by Corinthians2 was easily anticipated by the defenders. The players forward were so well marked, they were left with few viable options. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 1. Corinthians2 had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.

A review of the gameplan helped Corinthians1 get back to a solid organisation when the referee blew his whistle again. Corinthians2 needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 46 minutes Á. Szakadáti made way for T. Suksi. The visitors' J. Rørvik was alert after a cross coming in from the left, levelling the score at 2 - 2 after 70 minutes. Corinthians2's N. Merdović managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 74 minutes. 2 - 3. After 77 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Corinthians1 found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to inadequate. After 78 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave N. Merdović a chance to increase the lead for Corinthians2, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 2 - 4. 85 minutes in, Corinthians1's J. Douglas received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Corinthians2, with 62 percent of the ball.

Corinthians1's best player was R. Wu. N. Dinwoodie was a disappointment, however. Corinthians2's top performer was clearly B. Gurnell. On the other hand, À. Pedragosa's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 4.
