It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 10030 that came out to Eagles Thetford FC Arena. Anders Bäckmar was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Constantin Mazzotta and Robertus Veld. Thetford started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. They fielded: Franken - Veasey, Bleasdale, Milsom, Ryan - Gardiner, Feerey, O'Hanlon, Henry - Seguin, D'Silva.

M.K.D decided to use a 4-4-2 set up. Starters: Tansey - Cuthbert, Anderson, Pitcher, Whiteside - Le Fondre, Mbagi, Bryce, Goodman - Lane, Kitson.

Thetford took the lead, 1 - 0, after a penalty 23 minutes into the match. B. Veasey scored from the penalty spot. P. Pitcher made a run for the goal 24 minutes into the game but the home team's left back managed to sort the situation out in the end. Thetford put in a good effort on the right, but J. D'Silva saw his volley fly wide of the mark 27 minutes into the game. The visitors almost came back with an equaliser 32 minutes into the match after a good combination down the middle, but when M. Lane tried to finish the attack, he couldn't deliver the shot hard enough to seriously challenge the keeper. With 36 minutes played, Thetford's M. Gardiner almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. J. Bleasdale unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. Halftime score was 1 - 0. Thetford had most of the ball, with 57 percent of possession.

The heat made it a terrible day for L. Bryce, who seemed unable to keep up with the other players. Thetford had to make a substitution after 55 minutes. D. Seguin limped off the field and was replaced by M. Crowley-Cribbin. R. Cuthbert wasn't much help defensively. His energy-consuming forward runs proved quite costly in the oppressive heat. Coming through the middle R. Kitson almost scored the equaliser for M.K.D after 82 minutes, but B. Franken made an excellent save, tipping the awkwardly curled shot past the post. With 83 minutes played, J. Bleasdale could have brought this one home for Thetford as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. A well placed corner kick from B. Veasey was followed by M. Ryan's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for Thetford, the score now 2 - 0. The home team's fans were upset when, after 87 minutes, the visiting R. Kitson broke through the central defence and kicked the ball past the keeper. 2 - 1 was the score. After 88 minutes, M. Crowley-Cribbin put Thetford ahead 3 - 1 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. There was concern in the stands when, at the 88 minute mark, Thetford's M. Ryan hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Thetford, with 58 percent of the ball.

M. Crowley-Cribbin performed admirably for Thetford. B. Veasey turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating M.K.D player was without a doubt R. Kitson. P. Pitcher was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 1.
