Due to an all-day shower, 3023 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Preston North Eddy Arena. It was a bad day for the usually speedy B. Harrison. The mud seemed to slow him down. With 34 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 1 - 0 lead as J. Williams flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave D. Guiry from Preston a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 38 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! K. Harrison of alexmars2 received a yellow card after 39 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. The game was characterised by rough play and many physical challenges on the wet field, but J. Buckley showed great heart and had a good game. Preston's J. Grady saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 41 minutes. Coming from the right, C. Mulgrew almost managed to score another goal for Preston, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 0. Preston enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.

S. Zister could have put Preston up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 59 minutes. Preston put in a good effort on the right, but T. Burton saw his volley fly wide of the mark 75 minutes into the game. alexmars2's A. Parkar got himself booked for a foul. D. Gibbon came close to levelling the score 83 minutes into the game, as he was set up with a through ball coming in from the left, but his shot hit the post. Preston had most of the ball, with 54 percent of possession.

V. Midson performed admirably for Preston. However, T. Burton made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating alexmars2 player was without a doubt J. Buckley. C. Sherrit on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 0.
