Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and
jbeat Arena saw a crowd turnout of 8724.
Marian Pidek was the appointed referee.
jbeat had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
They fielded: Reedy - Pearce, Beck, Hargreaves, Keiller - Johnstone, Pare, Doyle, Spira - Campbell, Lyley.
SAINTSALIVE started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Meijengo - Tillman, Insch, Faris - Brigham, Rowe, Clayton, Galloway, Buckley - Burrie, Old.
Right from the start it was obvious that SAINTSALIVE were expecting an easy victory.
SAINTSALIVE mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
J. Pearce from jbeat a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 20 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
S. Faris came close to putting the visiting team one up 22 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
J. Reedy managed to tip the ball to a corner.
They were singing the praises of
S. Doyle 24 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to jbeat.
jbeat's
A. Lyley got himself booked for a foul.
R. Tillman was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so SAINTSALIVE's
W. Dar had to come off the bench.
One of many good crosses from
J. Spira on the wing was received and skillfully taken care of by
S. Johnstone, who scored for jbeat. 2 - 0
The visitors replied 38 minutes into the game, reducing the home side's lead to 2 - 1, as
M. Insch dashed up the middle, easily lobbing the ball over the home team's keeper.
jbeat's
S. Johnstone was shown a yellow card after 43 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
With 44 minutes played, the visitors could have drawn level after
D. Buckley came through the middle, but his kick went wide.
After 44 minutes, SAINTSALIVE sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
W. Dar, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 2 - 2.
It was 2 - 2 at the break.
Possession in this half belonged to SAINTSALIVE, who controlled the ball 64 percent of the time.
SAINTSALIVE may have been expecting an easier match today, but at half time the scoreline was still even. After a good talking to by the coach at half time, much of this complacency was washed away.
49 minutes into the match, the visiting SAINTSALIVE made the score 2 - 3 after
J. Rowe executed a perfect free kick.
The SAINTSALIVE players could smell victory in the air.
E. Galloway wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
D. Cahill after 65 minutes.

J. Spira put his head to a high ball coming in from the right after 66 minutes, but the ball went wide.
W. Dar came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
J. Reedy but overcooked it and hit the bar instead.
With 73 minutes played,
P. Old nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar.
Just a few inches to the right, and the visitors could have had a goal 74 minutes into the match.
J. Rowe surely wishes he could do that free kick over again.
The crowd gasped as
A. Lyley of jbeat was flattened by an opponent after 84 minutes and had to be carried off.
E. Holden came in off the bench.
SAINTSALIVE enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 67 percent of possession.
R. Campbell performed admirably for jbeat.
O. Keiller on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Most important SAINTSALIVE player was
J. Clayton.
D. Buckley turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 2 - 3.
