05-08-2012 18.00
Clear skies welcomed the 8281 spectators who had made their way to
Dante's great team Arena.
Jan-Heiko Schol was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Alfred Wheeler and
Gaetano Piovani.
Dantes started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Bose - O'Connor, Pepper, Muhammad, Swancutt - Bullock, Cairns, Porch, Lynch - Kooper, Guiry.
Mothy decided to use a 2-5-3 set up.
The following players took the field: Church - Dalton, Eade - Roalfe, Crean, Tyne, Goyochea, Bucchi - Oduro, Weitzen, O'Sullivan.
Mothy took the lead 20 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle.
D. Oduro was the scorer.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
A. Bucchi from Mothy a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 21 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
After 26 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed
S. Roalfe to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 2.
The home crowd was not impressed when
M. Weitzen came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 27 minutes. Mothy were now up 0 - 3.
After this, you could see that the players of Mothy were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
After the ball was lifted in from the left,
D. Oduro was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 29 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration.
0 - 3 was the halftime score.
Mothy claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 72 percent.
After 52 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
M. O'Sullivan a chance to increase the lead for Mothy, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 4.
The Mothy players could smell victory in the air.
M. Weitzen wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
R. Johnson after 67 minutes.
The visitors'
M. Goyochea took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 74 minutes into the match. 0 - 5 for Mothy.
After 75 minutes, Dantes's
A. Muhammad fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit!
With 78 minutes played, Mothy put themselves up 0 - 6 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
A. Eade.
B. Bose got a fingertip on
D. Oduro's shot from the left 81 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal.
Possession in this half belonged to Mothy, who controlled the ball 70 percent of the time.
Dantes's top performer was clearly
L. Kooper.
B. Bose turned in a dismal performance, however.
The most dominating Mothy player was without a doubt
R. Johnson.
On the other hand,
A. Bucchi's play was disheartening.
The match ends 0 - 6.
