The 12000 spectators at
Johnny Butlers Magic Arena were in for an afternoon of sunshine.
Toni Hammacher was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Odo Deidre and
Pauli Huttu.
Butlers started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Campbell-Orr - Singer, Porter, Clabon, Bruce - Mulvaney, Strange, Rushton, Ashton - Birch, Birch.
COMEONForest decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
Starters: Grumley - Thorpe, Ryan, Baxendale, Heffernan - Elliott, MacGuin, Hawwash, Acton - Bond, Arthur.
The referee showed COMEONForest's
T. Heffernan the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
Due to a severely mistimed tackle,
K. Clabon of Butlers spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game.
29 minutes into the game,
B. MacGuin almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar.
T. Heffernan remonstrated furiously with the referee after COMEONForest had another decision go against them. The referee had no alternative but to show him another yellow card and send him from the pitch.
COMEONForest's
R. Bond got himself booked for a foul.
Butlers's
J. Bruce went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention.
0 - 0 was the halftime score.
Butlers enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.
After 52 minutes, COMEONForest put themselves up 0 - 1, as
W. Acton finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot.
After 61 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
M. Ryan who increased COMEONForest's lead to 0 - 2.
Confident in their lead, COMEONForest's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
O. Hawwash of COMEONForest received a yellow card after 79 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
A penalty was awarded after 83 minutes, and
J. Thorpe made the most of his chance to put COMEONForest up by another goal. 0 - 3 for the visitors.
T. Birch almost reduced the deficit, having drawn the entire left side defence away, but the shot went straight into the arms of the goalkeeper.
COMEONForest claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.
Butlers's top performer was clearly
J. Mulvaney.
F. Singer on the other hand, had a terrible day.
COMEONForest's best player was
W. Acton.
On the other hand,
C. Grumley's play was disheartening.
The match ends 0 - 3.
