A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 12000 to
Farah Arena.
Noël Caire was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Yury Myasnyankin and
Steffen Aertse.
Falasteen decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
Starters: Nabulsi - Da'na, Shuman, Sub Laban, Abu Zama' - Habashneh, Salti, Mallah, Abu Zama' - Afoury, Barakat.
ahmed had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
The following players took the field: El-Qadi - Khalaileh, Mrad, Jaghbeer, Majali - El-Qasem, Schmaal, Bellagotti, Shraideh - Mulligan, Henin.
ahmed clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle.
It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why
K. Afoury found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork.
Down the middle came
J. Henin, making a fantastic play that nearly had ahmed take the lead after 17 minutes, but
Z. Nabulsi preserved the tie.
The visiting
S. Khalaileh was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 22 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score.
After 25 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
I. Schmaal a chance to increase the lead for ahmed, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 2.
By now, the players in ahmed felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 27 minutes, ahmed did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker,
I. Schmaal was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 0 - 3.
J. Henin received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 28 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 4. The ahmed fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
It was 0 - 4 at the break.
Possession in this half belonged to ahmed, who controlled the ball 78 percent of the time.
R. Jaghbeer of ahmed took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 59 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 5.
The visitors'
J. Mulligan took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 66 minutes into the match. 0 - 6 for ahmed.
J. Henin wanted to play on, but the ahmed coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 70 minutes into the game by
Q. Manaf.
With 81 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
S. Shraideh of ahmed to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 7.
Central attacks were the recipe of the day for ahmed, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity.
After 83 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
M. El-Qasem who increased ahmed's lead to 0 - 8.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the ahmed coach let
Q. Zamel replace
M. El-Qasem after 84 minutes.
A drive down the left side allowed
J. Mulligan to get in close and score another goal for ahmed after 87 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 9.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by ahmed, with 86 percent of the ball.
Falasteen's best player was
E. Sub Laban.
Z. Nabulsi was a disappointment, however.
Most important ahmed player was
T. Bellagotti.
Q. Manaf on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 0 - 9.
