Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 53619 at Rat Verlegh Stadion today. Jesús Sánchez was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Boris Filippov and Karsten Rosenø. Yellow decided to use a 4-4-2 set up. Lineup: Steensma - Hammer, Breemer, Eykenboom, Bruijn - Kloos, Hassert, Gillebaard, Ruding - Brobbel, Witsen.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Trinitas. Starters: Pagnoni - Baardman, Buetikofer, Gustavsson - Breen, van der Gun, Shaybani, Beekenkamp, Zapychaj - Roche, de Kam.

Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Trinitas. Yellow's K. Kloos had a good first touch on the flank, but was crowded and, after a change of plan, sent the ball to I. Witsen who somehow managed to curl the ball wide. The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 34 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from P. Bruijn, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 39 minutes, Yellow did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, K. Kloos was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 2 - 0. Halftime score was 2 - 0. Yellow enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.

47 minutes in, R. de Kam made an incredible run up the middle and nearly reduced the home side's lead, but S. Steensma refused to let the ball slip by him. D. Breemer of Yellow was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Coming in on the left, G. van der Gun did everything right to get a goal for Trinitas after 50 minutes, but his finishing shot was stabbed clear by the keeper. After 59 minutes, K. Kloos put Yellow ahead 3 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. M. Hammer left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 60 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. A. Schenderling was the replacement. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Yellow lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. H. Ruding could have increased the lead after 65 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. After 67 minutes, a deliberate handball from Yellow's D. Breemer was judged to be his second bookable offence, and he was sent off. The referee showed Trinitas's W. Beekenkamp the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. H. Ruding's knee will be throbbing for days, but thankfully for Yellow, he bravely continued in the match. Neither team was controlling the possession at this point in the match, with the stats showing a 50:50 split.

The most dominating Yellow player was without a doubt D. Brobbel. A. Schenderling turned in a dismal performance, however. R. de Kam performed admirably for Trinitas. G. Pagnoni on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 3 - 0.
