Lastdrager had an excellent opportunity after 25 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles! C. Lastdrager earned a rousing chorus of cheers from his fans as he seemed to come out of nowhere after 28 minutes to intercept the ball and put it in the back of the net for WFC. 2 - 0. The players of WFC now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. It was obvious that WFC had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. After 33 minutes, C. Lastdrager put WFC ahead 3 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. 38 minutes into the match, M. Hunziker could have extended the lead, but his powerful free kick went just over the bar. 3 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to WFC, who controlled the ball 61 percent of the time.

The referee showed WFC's H. Brasseur the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. O. Nouwen of WFC was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. M. Hunziker should probably have put his team up another goal after 78 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by J. Antwerpen kept the visitors in the game. L. Butterhoff nearly reduced the lead 85 minutes into the game, but a splendid one-handed save by G. Mennella prevented the attempt coming in from the right flank from hitting the back of the net. WFC had most of the ball, with 61 percent of possession.

The most dominating WFC player was without a doubt B. Månsson. H. Brasseur on the other hand, had a terrible day. R. Meijerman performed admirably for Ruiters. A. Faasse was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 0.
