Moritz Grodecki was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Tyge Miller and
Roger Eckstrand.
Bresko had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Miętus - Pugliese, Doronzo, Hagen - Herzog, Arduini, Niţescu, Lazio, Pištovčák - Kostonas, Cociubă.
Arnhem decided to use a 2-5-3 set up.
Lineup: Waterbolk - Boven, Duijsters - Aspenmar, Verstegen, Zwaneveld, Weening, Bergami - Bugaev, Harman, Bökenkoppel.
Arnhem's
F. Aspenmar made use of his speed to get free of the defence, but he still couldn't get a shot off 10 minutes into the match.
The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
M. Cociubă, but the Bresko player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0!
28 minutes into the game Arnhem's
J. Harman found a gap in the home side's central defence and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 1 - 1.
The referee signaled a penalty for the home side after 33 minutes, amid vocal protests from the visitors. Bresko fans erupted in celebration as
D. Kostonas rifled the ball into the the top corner. 2 - 1!
Bresko solidified their lead at the 34 minute mark, as
M. Cociubă dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 1.
Arnhem reduced the lead after 37 minutes to 3 - 2 as
G. Bökenkoppel easily chipped the ball past the home side's keeper after a dazzling play from the right.
Arnhem's
V. Bugaev got himself booked for a foul.
L. Miętus of Bresko had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game.
E. Dores Silva came in to finish the match.
It was 3 - 2 at the break.
Bresko enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 53 percent of possession.
Arnhem's
E. Bergami had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 61 minutes having been played.
T. Clephas was the replacement.
The visitors didn't give in and, after 67 minutes,
V. Bugaev got through the home side's central line of defence, rolling in the equaliser to make it 3 - 3.
As the 70 minute mark approached, the Bresko coach decided it was time for a substitution.
S. Hagen reluctantly made way for
G. Houkes on the pitch.
The Bresko captaincy was handed to
D. Kostonas.
70 minutes into the match, the Bresko manager wanted to try a new tactic, and the players loyally obliged.

After 70 minutes Arnhem's
T. Clephas limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue.
The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when
J. Harman was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 71 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead!
After 73 minutes, Arnhem put themselves up 3 - 4, as
G. Bökenkoppel finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot.
Some fine passing in the middle of the pitch, carving open the away defence, should have led to a goal for Bresko, but
M. Cociubă's shot went over the bar.
Possession in this half belonged to Bresko, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.
The most dominating Bresko player was without a doubt
D. Kostonas.
E. Dores Silva was a disappointment, however.
J. Harman performed admirably for Arnhem.
T. Clephas on the other hand, had a terrible day.
