Winning 2 - 1 Schiere (390245290)

It had rained all day, but 50512 hardy fans still made it out to The Colosseum. Bent Dyrholm was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Adolphe Saeys and Dušan Zličić. Winning started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Kremer - van der Zalm, Mondriaan, Teeuwen - Pijl, Muller, Falix, Suiskens, Breed - Versteden, Koerts.

Schiere decided to use a 4-3-3 set up. The following players took the field: Ramiz - Yona, Beldermans, Oving, Saldarriaga - Antonsson, Gerboc, Karres - Antenucci, Hanusz, Mofina.

Schiere clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. A. Yona was struggling to make the ball dance with his usual trickery and panache, and the opposing players had little trouble shutting him down in these muddy conditions. 11 minutes into the game, Schiere seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a passable level of organisation. Schiere took the lead 20 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle. J. Beldermans was the scorer. After 21 minutes, B. Falix made a dash down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the goal that made it 1 - 1. After 27 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Schiere found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to weak. A. Pijl, who often relies on his speed, had a rotten day on the drenched grass. Schiere mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 38 minutes, but H. Antonsson was unable to convert from short range. The referee showed Winning's J. Mondriaan the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. In a fantastic display of determination, Schiere's A. Saldarriaga forced himself to his feet, after an opponent viciously knocked him down. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. Winning enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 70 percent of possession.

The Schiere players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a passable organisation when the game started again. Schiere's A. Saldarriaga left the field after 69 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was A. Larragoiti. After 70 minutes, a long pass from Winning's J. Suiskens caught the defence out of position. A. Versteden collected the ball, and with the goal at his mercy calmly rolled the ball just inside the post. 2 - 1. Winning's J. Mondriaan swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. Winning's L. Koerts saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 75 minutes. Schiere were pushed back, and had many dangerous counterattacks. An impressive one came 82 minutes into the match, but J. Beldermans narrowly missed the free kick attempt that was awarded as a result of a foul. Winning claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 66 percent.

Winning's top performer was clearly A. Versteden. On the other hand, L. Koerts's play was disheartening. J. Beldermans performed admirably for Schiere. A. Larragoiti was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 1.
