Clear skies welcomed the 28495 spectators who had made their way to
Het Vossenhol.

Doorn had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation.

Straits tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
They fielded: Epalza - Reijerse, Eriksen, Lee - Thiers, Kerkvliet, Solhaug, Rzeczkowski, Trelles - Doevendans, van der Leek.
Doorn clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could.
Straits's
S. Lee showed off his trademark ability to do the unexpected with a tricky pass after 11 minutes. Unfortunately,
M. Thiers was startled by the play and wasn't able to control the finish.

S. Lee managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 14 minutes. 0 - 1.
31 minutes into the game, Straits worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch.
The Doorn equaliser came after 32 minutes when
J. Malysse floated in a free kick making the score 1 - 1.
With 35 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Doorn resulted in a counterattack that set
D. Gabirondo free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save.
Doorn had a great opportunity to score following a counterattack after 38 minutes, but
M. Kamstra's shot from the left sailed high over the bar.
It was 1 - 1 at the break.
Straits had most of the ball, with 60 percent of possession.
The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when
F. Doevendans was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 50 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead!
There was concern in the stands when, at the 62 minute mark, Straits's
M. Thiers hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch.
Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 70 minutes into the match left Straits's
M. Thiers completely free to score. 1 - 2 for the visitors.
After the ball was lifted in from the left,
J. Solhaug was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 71 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration.
F. Trelles could have put his team up another goal 74 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post.
Coming in from the right, Doorn had a good opportunity to convert on a counterattack after 75 minutes, but
P. Marco's attempt to finish was easily stopped.
J. Kerkvliet hit the corner kick straight to the keeper, but it was mishandled, giving Straits's
F. Trelles an easy chance to knock it in for 1 - 3.
After this, you could see that the players of Straits were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
Possession in this half belonged to Straits, who controlled the ball 60 percent of the time.
Doorn's top performer was clearly
D. Gabirondo.
However,
N. Lemaire made a disastrous appearance.
K. Rzeczkowski performed admirably for Straits.
On the other hand,
F. Doevendans's play was disheartening.
