previous 5/10 next 7/10  Fikkie 2 - 1 fcld (390279512)

25038 fans braved the pouring rain at TFC Stadium. Konrad Kobiec was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ralf Hoogland and Marsels Znotiņš. Fikkie started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Starters: Masin - Lunghi, Mokhtari, Szűcs - Vivanco, Goderis, Rżany, van Anraat, Tulissio - Santiago, Wahlskär.

fcld had chosen a strategic 4-3-3 formation. The following players took the field: Albersen - Khawalani, de Borst, Hendel, Forese - Knapek, Jurica, Nelisse - Valecce, Fődi, Tokan.

fcld clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. F. Santiago slipped and slithered in the wet grass. His usual rapid runs were nowhere to be seen today. The visiting N. Fődi was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 14 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score. Against a lesser team, Fikkie could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick routine after 17 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save. The boggy pitch disrupted the game, especially for technical players like E. Tulissio. 33 minutes in, and Fikkie were able to score the equalising goal to make it 1 - 1 when L. Wahlskär picked up a pass coming in from the right and chipped it past the away team's keeper. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. Fikkie had most of the ball, with 66 percent of possession.

Fikkie's E. Tulissio tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders. After 52 minutes Fikkie's L. Wahlskär limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. Fikkie took the lead 64 minutes in, as F. Santiago broke through on the left and put the 2 - 1 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. After 69 minutes Fikkie's L. Wahlskär had to be carried off on a stretcher in agony. I. Dopazo came in to replace him. E. Tulissio was the new captain of Fikkie - handed the armband by the departing player. I. Dopazo could have put Fikkie up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 70 minutes. The visitors kept the pressure on to tie the game when, after 74 minutes, Y. Tokan broke through the centre and found himself alone with the keeper. D. Masin made a great block, though. Fikkie enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 63 percent of possession.

Fikkie's top performer was clearly J. Rżany. I. Dopazo on the other hand, had a terrible day. N. Fődi performed admirably for fcld. K. Khawalani was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 1.
