The free kick that followed was a clever indirect effort that almost succeeded, but the defence read the situation well and the intended recipient was left ruing what might have been. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 0. Legionnairs had most of the ball, with 65 percent of possession.

47 minutes into the match the visitors levelled the score at 1 - 1 as Ē. Munds struck home from a rebound off the crossbar, following a shot from the right. Legionnairs's E. Bergboer lived up to his reputation for finding unexpected ways to get the ball in the net when he sent a nifty little pass over to T. Borgharts who finished for 1 - 2 with 59 minutes of the match played. Legionnairs came close to extending their lead as H. Coene delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 65 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting.
