24-06-2012 21.00
A scorching day at
The Tigerdome, where 20000 spectators were in place for today's match.
Xavier Moral was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Daniel Pinheiro and
Theobald Kotfleisch.
Tigers started off with a 3-4-3 lineup.
Starters: Machado - Papp, Alliende, Birindelli - Rozbroj, Villalaúd, Forcadell, Walkner - Delgado, Olbryś, Mianowany.
SKNWK decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
The following players had been chosen: Wever - op den Buys, Dalhuizen, Ronteltap - Thybom, Henstra, van Lammeren, Bijlsma, Gofferjé - Mulders, Fagà.
The wings were the focus of most of SKNWK's attacks today.
After 7 minutes, SKNWK's
M. Thybom made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1.
There was concern in the stands when, at the 22 minute mark, Tigers's
J. Papp hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch.
A drive down the left side allowed
F. Gofferjé to get in close and score another goal for SKNWK after 26 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 2.
A. Mulders of SKNWK took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 27 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 3.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of SKNWK lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
After 30 minutes, SKNWK's
A. Mulders fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit!
0 - 3 was the halftime score.
SKNWK enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.
As usual,
E. Bijlsma tried to use his strength and hard work for the benefit of the team, but the heat hit him hard and he couldn't keep pace at all.
A marvellous Tigers effort on the right-hand side resulted in a goal after 64 minutes by
D. Delgado, making the score 1 - 3.
Attacking on the wings was the choice for SKNWK, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack.
74 minutes into the game, SKNWK worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch.
Possession in this half belonged to SKNWK, who controlled the ball 52 percent of the time.
The most dominating Tigers player was without a doubt
P. Forcadell.
M. Walkner was a disappointment, however.
SKNWK's best player was
G. van Lammeren.
J. Ronteltap turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 1 - 3.
