Clear skies welcomed the 12000 spectators who had made their way to
Van Daar.
Kai Gruse was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Oscar Jully and
Celso Maciota.
Van decided to use a 3-4-3 set up.
Lineup: Burghartz - Grot, Bogaard, Cecchini - Beltman, Filgueira, Mucenieks, Franse - Dalledonne, Soledade, Hol.
boys85 started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Tesauro - Osman, Quintana, Telesca - Koetsier, Lévecque, Habermeyer, Völz, Neyyir - Van Den Broeck, Luberti.
boys85 seemed to prefer attacking in the middle.
T. Grot caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 11 minutes. This gave Van the 1 - 0 lead.
After 14 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
S. Dalledonne gave the Van supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 2 - 0.
The players of Van now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
With 27 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience,
J. Habermeyer needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed.
The referee showed Van's
O. Hol the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
B. Bogaard of Van was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
Halftime score was 2 - 0.
Van had most of the ball, with 60 percent of possession.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the Van coach let
R. Molthof replace
B. Bogaard after 50 minutes.
The Van players could smell victory in the air.
J. Soledade wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
R. Eichelmann after 50 minutes.
59 minutes into the game,
J. Franse had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
J. van Tol.
F. Filgueira increased Van's lead to 3 - 0 with a penalty spot cannonball.
Unfortunately for Van,
B. Burghartz suffered a concussion after 69 minutes and had to be taken for tests. The coach had his head in his hands after realising he could not send a replacement onto the pitch, and the team had to continue a man short.
A field player had to replace the goalkeeper, and this difficult task fell to
J. van Tol .
The home side's
S. Dalledonne came close to extending the lead 81 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but
G. Tesauro managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop.
After 82 minutes,
O. Hol put Van ahead 4 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
boys85 enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.
Van's best player was
O. Hol.
J. van Tol was a disappointment, however.
Most important boys85 player was
F. Luberti.
O. Neyyir on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 4 - 0.
