previous 1/4 next 3/4  DeSteiners 0 - 7 FightClub (390448385)

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 12000 to Steinvast Stadium. Vítor de Castro was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Vítor Tavares and Fabricio Lobos. DeSteiners started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. Starters: Peijnenburg - Walg, Schep, Koops, Leeuwerik - Chebli, Hazer, Haverkamp, de Munnik - Kolenbrander, Moons.

FightClub tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. The following players had been chosen: Hofkamp - Delwart, Luschnig - Driessen, Duis, de Leeuw, Woestenenk, Wilstra - Hanemaaijer, de Jongh, van Loo.

A mistake by the home side's central defence after 2 minutes allowed A. de Leeuw to score for FightClub. The scoreboard now read 0 - 1. G. Woestenenk received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 14 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The FightClub fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. 20 minutes into the game, FightClub were awarded a penalty and A. de Leeuw was able to increase the visitors' lead to 0 - 3 rolling the ball in by the right post. After this, you could see that the players of FightClub were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. T. Hanemaaijer of FightClub took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 25 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 4. L. de Jong was called on to replace FightClub's G. Delwart after 33 minutes following a nasty collision. A drive down the left side allowed T. de Jongh to get in close and score another goal for FightClub after 34 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 5. 0 - 5 was the halftime score. FightClub claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 71 percent.

With 72 minutes played, FightClub put themselves up 0 - 6 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was A. de Leeuw. By then A. de Leeuw had scored three goals - a hat trick! After 73 minutes of game time, A. de Leeuw had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but S. Peijnenburg was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner. 74 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 7 as W. van Loo finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. DeSteiners had to make a substitution after 75 minutes. A. Chebli limped off the field and was replaced by G. Crans. FightClub enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 61 percent of possession.

The most dominating DeSteiners player was without a doubt M. de Munnik. However, S. Peijnenburg made a disastrous appearance. FightClub's top performer was clearly W. van Loo. On the other hand, T. Wilstra's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 7.
