19-08-2012 20.35
Due to an all-day shower, 6554 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at
de baard.
Harold Veth was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Erkki Forssell and
Oto Sivák.
zakken had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
The following players took the field: van Embden - Snippe, Komrij, Spitze, Prins - van der Oord, Zeegers, Smittenaar, Wekema - van Loenen, Wijker.
HGK1 started off with a 5-3-2 lineup.
They fielded: Spurný - Becue, Kukka, Jiménez, Hulpe, Dračka - Portka, François, Ökmen - Salonmaa, Sekerlioglu.
Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 7 minutes into the match, and
G. Becue wasn't about to let it go by. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 0 - 1 for the visitors.
M. Snippe didn't let the weather get him down and made some great moves on the pitch in spite of the rain.
The visitors'
R. Ökmen took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 28 minutes into the match. 0 - 2 for HGK1.
HGK1 increased their lead after 34 minutes when
A. Portka broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 3, much to the home crowd's dismay.
G. Spitze was struggling to make the ball dance with his usual trickery and panache, and the opposing players had little trouble shutting him down in these muddy conditions.
39 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 4 as
J. Salonmaa finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick.
zakken had to make a substitution after 40 minutes.
A. Zeegers limped off the field and was replaced by
W. van Bremerhaven.
D. Wekema did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch.
J. Salonmaa received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 42 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 5. The HGK1 fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
By now, the players in HGK1 felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
Some things can only be learned through experience, and
B. Dračka should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting zakken a goal with 44 minutes of the match played.
It was 0 - 5 at the break.
Possession in this half belonged to HGK1, who controlled the ball 65 percent of the time.
B. Dračka could have put his team up another goal 57 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post.
J. Salonmaa increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 6.
That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for
J. Salonmaa.
69 minutes into the game, HGK1 were awarded a penalty and
M. François was able to increase the visitors' lead to 0 - 7 rolling the ball in by the right post.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by HGK1, with 65 percent of the ball.
The most dominating zakken player was without a doubt
M. Snippe.
G. van Embden was a disappointment, however.
J. Salonmaa performed admirably for HGK1.
However,
V. Hulpe made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 0 - 7.
